It is a sort of sequel. I loved other tracks other than Baba Yetu on Calling All Dawns. Kia Hora Te Marino, Sukla-Krsne, and Mado Kara Mieru were the others I really enjoyed. Mado Kara Mieru particularly for the poetic lyrics on observations of the three stages of life through a window.

Indeed. I still remember meeting many from all races in UMS who blame the victim for getting raped so this is clearly not a genetically-linked trait.

It's fucking rape culture (whether Shariah courts allow a rapist to marry the victim, or some priest is transferred to hide cases of rape), but this idiot decided to add a layer of racism on top of it too.

The Kindle is great for ebooks. I own one too. Unfortunately, science journals don't come in epubs or other ebook formats, but the inflexible but nicely formatted pdfs.

Happy New Year to you too. I have been enjoying reading your blog and the adventures of little Darwin. It is a great reminder of home and the year-long warm, sunny weather.

I couldn't justify owning a tablet since I already have a smartphone. I got a Kindle for reading instead, and that worked really well for me.

I understand what you are trying to say just fine. I am merely saying that you are as ineffectual as PETA at selling it.

People are not going to listen to whatever you are trying to say when you are not condemning meat eating ironically. You are, at the same time, condemning meat eating honestly. Whether it is intended or not, the message from this post appears to be mixed. If you are serious about condemning meat eating, are you serious about people who take offence having the right to prosecute the perceived offence giver?

And it takes away from the real issue here when you use it to soapbox your pet cause. They are being persecuted for "giving offence". You are in turn claiming offence they gave for their consumption of meat, directly comparing you to the Muslims who unreasonably took offence. Like I said, it distracts from the issue at hand and does your own cause disservice in the process - and it greatly lessens what you are saying on both issues.

I have seen very effective and clear write ups on the Alvivi scandal. When I read yours, I just went ???.

I also know you long enough to know that you also have a tendency to make yourself look and appear extremistic in your views, sometimes alienating people who otherwise agree with you.

I take your comment in good faith, as I have known you long enough to understand your general goodwill. I also know you long enough to see that you sometimes miss the forest for the trees, as is the case here.

That said, I know nothing about PETA funding terrorists or murderers. But since you brought up the issue, and wish to convince me that is the case, admitting that you mistook a lobby group for conservative ideology as reputable journalism while providing links to credible sources would be a more productive and convincing venture.

Now, just for the sake of clarity, my first comment was written just to point out that what you are saying sounds like what PETA says on the subject of animal "murder".

My follow up comment on the shady bits of PETA was in response to you not finding it offensive to be likened to an organisation that does the stuff they did.

Question: are you denying that PETA gave money to organisations and individuals that engaged in terrorist activities?

The Heartland institute is just not a credible source worth quoting. I have very little use reading from a source to which I wish to fact check everything.

Just as I shall give a 0 for students of mine who quote Wikipedia in their assignments.

Plus, if you parse my words correctly, I have never denied the more unsavoury parts of PETA, and in fact disagree with their exploitation of women, and their no-kill shelters.

However, we do intersect in our views towards the treatment of animals raised for food, and I take that part as a vital point of intersection of views which you are using to disparage me, by tagging on other elements of PETA which I do not agree with.

Any sceptic worth his salt would give evidence to refute the claims made by Heartland instead of simply pointing out their flaws as if it has any bearing on the truthfulness of their allegations against PETA - and I am sure you know that the criticism against PETA-ran shelters does not only come from conservative quarters. Writers from Skepchick had also spoken and written frequently against PETA.

I point out the similarity of views between you and PETA not because it assuages my guilt (I have none) but because you sound like you are starting to hold increasingly more extreme views on this subject. The Alvivi issue is not about "the murder of a pig" to quote you, a crime which you put ahead of their antagonism of some religious groups in our country. Your write up here is not doing your cause any favour due to its over-the-top nature; a common mistake that other animal rights groups have accused PETA of making.

As I said, I still don't find any offence with you comparing me with PETA. You can quite easily find out where my views diverge from theirs on my blog.

But if the intersection of views between me and PETA on animal cruelty brings you much glee and assuages your guilt, you may as well paint me as a gun nut too just because I also agree with the NRA that the NSA has gone too far in tracking US citizens.
